Asian food is a weakness of mine. Unfortunately, most available Asian food readily available in America is chock-full of food sources that are, we might say, not beneficial to health. Finding healthy Asian recipes I love and that aren't overly complicated is so satisfying!
This is a slow cooker recipe, but because it was already afternoon when I began preparing dinner, I adapted it for the stove top. And it turned out excellently!
Another substitution I made was arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch. The result was a bit stickier and thicker than I prefer, though some might enjoy the texture. In the recipe below, I've quartered the amount, though if your sauce seems thick enough already, you might be able to safely leave it out.

Sticky, flavorful, healthy chicken served on rice or cauliflower rice
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 pounds chicken thighs or chicken breasts
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
Instructions:
- Cube chicken and cook. Mix together all ingredients except water and arrowroot in a bowl. Pour over chicken. Cook in frying pan until chicken is done.
- If needed, mix water and arrowroot together. Stir into sauce to thicken.
- Serve with rice.
